Punta Banco, Pavones

Fri Mar 13, 2009, 8:43 AM
So.. I have been at the yoga farm for almost two weeks now. It s literally located at the end of the road... like you can´t go any further. If you do go further, you end up in the Guayami Reserve, which is home to the indigenous population down here... and eventually you would make it to Panama. You have to walk up this HUGE hill to get there, which is described as a "15 minute brisk walk" in the brochure. We decided this hill weeds the weak hearted travelers out. I haven´t been doing much surfing here, as the waves are like super big and there are rocks around. Punta Banco is about an hour and a half walk from Pavones, so sometimes we all walk in to town to be exposed to civilization, which is really just a couple restaurants, a mini mart, a hardware store, and an internet cafe. The Punta Banco beach is considered crowded when there is another person besides yourself on the beach. It´s pretty crazy. There are now twenty of us at the farm.. from Germany, Austria, Sweden, England, Canada, Texas, Oregon, Buffalo, Maine... It´s a good group. I have been sleeping on the yoga deck, which is all open and has a fantastic view of the ocean. We just experienced three earthquakes in one day. That was pretty weird. And then we had a huge downpour of rain and lightining and thunder, which we have all taken as a sign that the rainy season is very near. Monkeys pass through the trees surrounding the farm at least once a day. And the Howlers wake us up in the morning. Yeah. It´s really good.

oh yes.. my roommate is from Australia. She drinks gin every night, probably a little too much, because after a while she starts having to hold on to things to steady herself. it is kind of really funny actually. and then she just starts talking.. but between her accent and the little bit of slurring going on, I have a hard time understanding. so yeah, there is hope for you.
